Half-Baked in Alaska

So sick of Sarah:

Here are the words of Palin’s successor, Alaska’s lieutenant governor, after Palin’s announcement that she quits: (from  http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/04/us/politics/04alaska.html?fta=y)

“It is with a heavy heart that I hear these words,” Mr. Parnell said Friday in a written statement after Ms. Palin’s announcement. “I so appreciate what you have done for our state and your sacrificial service. You have been a strong leader for our state; you’ve inspired a nation; and you’ve ignited the fire of real hope around the world.

“I profoundly respect your decision for I know the depth of character and integrity from which it springs. Rare, indeed, are such selfless acts seen in the public arena.”

Wow, what a load of moose dung, eh? What could possibly be selfless about quitting in the middle of a job in hopes of being discovered in the national arena? I picture her sitting at the counter in Schwab’s sipping an ice cream soda hoping Roger Ailes will happen by and offer her a job. Obviously it’s all about her; selfish and irresponsible come to mind as more appropriate adjectives.

But no doubt Alaska will be better off without her. Every state needs an actual working governor. I wonder if she would have been elected if Alaskans had known she was just using the governship as a springboard into national politics/media.
