I’m sick of the arguments from people trying to ram their views down your throat. To me the arguments for assault style rifles are essentially the same as the arguments against. And after being verbally abused by some piece of crap jerk over the topic, I’ve decided to show why I think that.
Here’s the happy shit posted by the NRA/gun lobby faction:
You’ll notice the condescending tone probably, if you disagree with him. That’s really what I’m sick to death of. No, your opinions are not better than mine. And he claims it was never a weapon of war, but that is in fact its origin.
One thing he left out pretty much, only quickly referring to the “cool factor,” is that these guns look badass. Meaning intimidating. He didn’t glorify that because he knows that is what leads most people to see why it appeals to skinny white dudes with inferiority complexes.
So, maybe you can’t argue with the appeal of the AR-15. And there’s the problem. Here’s a Rolling Stone article from just after the Orlando shooting in 2016:
So yes indeed. An AR-15 is just what you need if you’re looking for an easy to use, cool looking, accurate rifle that will shoot a ton of bullets. Woohoo! Not only that, you could build it yourself, modify it, etc. It’s perfect for a day out at the shooting range or taking out people you don’t like. Potayto-potahto
It’s clear to me that if gun lovers must have this gun available to them, they have to concede to restrictions. Whatever your argument, you can’t really deny that this was originally intended to be a weapon of war. If you must have it anyway, surely you are willing to put up with background checks for ALL purchases, and a ban on purchases by the clearly mentally ill and convicted violent offenders such as domestic abusers. Yes, those are complicated issues in themselves, but that doesn’t mean they’re not possible. Because in my opinion, the only sensible alternative is to make them illegal – to buy OR to own.
